TEDxGangnamSalon event 2011: My first TEDxSalon event in Korea

My first TEDxSalon event was  TEDxGangnamSalon held at Samsung d'light Shop, Gangnam. TEDxSalon event is short version of TEDx event where you can invite  passionate people to experience TEDx environment, share 1-3 TED talks and one speak local speaker, make a theme, and party later on! theme and event breakdown! I was thrilled to join it because I never experienced a TEDx event (other than Live event in Seoul), though language can be barrier at times! The important thing was to understand the theme and contents of event, rather than just attend! The event was curated by TEDxGangnam Licensee HongSeok Kim. The invited speaker for the day was "Kim Seon A" a designer who made her Gallery near Yongsan. 김선아 "Design the World" -> Twitter Art Festival 김선아 started her talk with saying that may people have Gallery Phobia. She realized that and made her own gallery near Yongsan, Seoul. She mentioned about Twitter Art Festival. I am wondering what really i

Daejeon visit: A day away from Seoul and Suwon

Its hard to go out when rain is pouring down cats and dogs! Though Sunday is mostly the free day to visit places outside Seoul (if planned 1 day trip), yet it is tricky as next day is working day!  It was my first experience to travel via KTx (Suwon to Daejeon Station).  It costs 10,000 - 11,000 KRW from Suwon to Daejon (KTx). and traveling time is 1 hour 10 minutes. It sounds funny that I missed Daejeon station and dropped out at next station :-)  Though I came back via next train for free but it was new experience for me! Adventurous! KTx :Equipped with Wifi :)   The first impression of Daejeon was good on me, because I saw flag of Pakistan outside Daejeon station among Korean war supporters! The second impression of Daejeon was " It is quiet and serene place"  Yes, indeed! Pakistan! Green Flag of Pakistan with Moon and Star! gsag       The first sightseeing in Daejoen was "Daejeon Steam"  It follows through the city and

It was bright sunny morning on May 5, 2011, a perfect day for climbing mountain! I went for hike with 'Climbing in Korea (CIK)' group! The mountain name was Kwanaksan, near Sadang Station, height 629m.  The CIK organizers called it an "easy hike", though it turns out the other way! Random Fact# May 5 is a 'children's day' in Korea and a public holiday   The starting time of hike was 10.00am, and after some stretching we proceeded to the track!      There are around 23+ people. Countries of origin: Korea, USA, South Africa, UK, Pakistan, India, Newzeland     T he picturesque view of Seoul from Mountain looked awesome! Once I reached the first peak, somebody told me "that's it" now we have to climb down. My reply was: This is not fair, I want to climb more! Actually this was a joke and who knows there were yet 6 more peaks to climb! Few more peaks like this! Oh I need water!! Around 12.00pm, we stopped for lunch br
