Daejeon visit: A day away from Seoul and Suwon

Its hard to go out when rain is pouring down cats and dogs! Though Sunday is mostly the free day to visit places outside Seoul (if planned 1 day trip), yet it is tricky as next day is working day!

It was my first experience to travel via KTx (Suwon to Daejeon Station).  It costs 10,000 - 11,000 KRW from Suwon to Daejon (KTx). and traveling time is 1 hour 10 minutes. It sounds funny that I missed Daejeon station and dropped out at next station :-)  Though I came back via next train for free but it was new experience for me! Adventurous!

KTx :Equipped with Wifi :)
The first impression of Daejeon was good on me, because I saw flag of Pakistan outside Daejeon station among Korean war supporters! The second impression of Daejeon was " It is quiet and serene place"  Yes, indeed!

The first sightseeing in Daejoen was "Daejeon Steam"  It follows through the city and provides a good place for picnic and cycling!

Bridge on top of Stream! Awesome~~
After eating the delicious lunch, I headed for Daejeon Art Museum. The museum was surrounded by a nice park, and provided a good spot to hangout with family and friends!

A view of Daejeon art Museum!

Besides Daejeon art museum is a big park including Flower gardens.

Now this is very interesting, the wheel rotates and provides a shade during Sunny day!

Hanbat arboretum

Mugunghwa- national flower of Korea!
The garden has different sections, Vegetables, Fruits, Rose, and many other flowers. The interesting one was 'Rock Garden' /암석원  :)

Grapes :) Soar though!

Rock Garden!

Next place to visit was KAIST!  (of course I can i miss it :), The MIT of KOREA). Before going there, I crossed famous bridge in Dajeon ( around Daejeon Exhibition center). It looks fabulous!

apricot : Looks yummy!

Beautiful architecture

KAIST is best technology/research institute in Korea, particulary, nurturing Korean youth for modern era!

Electric Car parking in KAIST -:) Unique!
Lastly, I would conclude here : It was wonderful one day trip to Daejeon. If you wanna try a quiet and serene place outside Seoul (that is not too far), visit Daejeon and enjoy a relaxing day out with friends! Now if you are hungry, please try this out when you visit Daejeon (picture below)

Introduction:   I participated in a volunteer activity called “Neighbors from Afar/ 교실에서 만나는 먼나라 이웃나라" orchestrated by Seoul Metropolitan Government. The main objective of this activity program was to enhance mutual understanding and respect between Koreans and foreigners living in Seoul.  In this regard, I visited Unhyun Elementary School, to deliver lecture about my home country Pakistan (파키스탄). The audience of lecture were Grade-5 elementary students. Details:    The lecture start time was 9am in the morning; therefore I had to leave early from Kyung Hee University ( 경희대학교 ) Suwon Yeongtong. The journey was pretty smooth because of good transportation system. It took one hour to reach Anguk Station. We were greeted by school staff as well as couple of pleasant shouts from kids! The school was located at nice place with green lawns and trees surrounded by tall building. Mr. Donghoon Shin told us that hat we will be joined by JoongAng Daily news reporters for covering t
